BOWLING GREEN, OH (WTOL)- What a month it has been for a 12-year-old girl from Bowling Green.
A year ago, Ruthanne Johnson wrote to Oprah Winfrey about being bullied and the desire to help other kids. Ruthanne says kids at the Toledo School for the Arts called her fat and also ugly because of her curly hair.
Her letter was so inspiring that she was one of only three kids in the nation to be invited to a luncheon for singer Lady Gaga's Born This Way foundation.
Ruthanne was also featured on the Oprah Winfrey network in a report on bullying.
On the show, she said, "Now I know that in times that are hard, I just have to love myself."
Ruthanne has started her own foundation called Be You: Youth Empowerment. She's trying to get many followers on Facebook.
Ruthanne also says she's not being bullied any more.
