BOWLING GREEN, OH (WTOL) – A Rossford man who admitted to sexually abusing young boys in the 1990s will spend the next 16 years in prison. Larry Scott, 55, was sentenced Thursday morning after being convicted of having sex with two teen boys.
Scott showed no emotion as he walked into a Wood County courtroom to be sentenced on eight sexual abuse charges involving children.
One of the victims who was abused faced his attacker Thursday.
"He made me feel so shameful about it all like it was my fault like I wanted it. In fact, there were times he would utter those words to me as he was raping me," said the victim.
The victim said the emotional pain has not stopped.
"Because of his actions, my ability to trust has been destroyed. This has affected my marriage, work and other social activities," explained the victim.
The mother of a second victim, who is now 17, said her family trusted Scott, and even referred to him as "Uncle Larry."
"Our child was hurting, and scared, and humiliated, and we kept bringing that man into our house. We were responsible for bringing him to parties, and dinners, and holidays, and vacations," said the victim's mother.
Before the sentencing, Scott made a brief statement: "I am truly sorry for what I've done."
Even though the two sides agreed to a 12-year punishment, the judge decided on a 16-year prison sentence.
As Scott left court in handcuffs, family and friends of the victims cheered in the halls as they said justice is finally being served.
Once released from prison, Scott will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
