TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Ohio State Senator Theresa Fedor, Toledo Councilwoman Lindsay Webb and residents are asking Governor John Kasich for more money for communities affected by the new casino.
Fedor and Webb say Penn National agreed to pay the state 75-million dollars for The Hollywood Casino-Toledo.
A current proposal suggests putting 3.5 million-dollars aside for affected communities like north Toledo.
Fedor and Webb say that the amount not enough because they believe the casino has "put the nail in the coffin" for Raceway Park and its closing will hurt the area.
"Three-point-five million dollars is not enough for us to recoup the losses associated with the closing of Raceway Park. Not only are we losing 110 jobs when this facility closes, but there are businesses attached to the business here," said Councilwoman Webb
Webb says they want the money to redevelop Raceway Park, the Northtowne mall, and finishing the I-475 project.
