PERRYSBURG, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - A ground breaking ceremony is scheduled Monday for a new retirement community in Perrysburg.

The St. Clare Commons will be located on Point Road near the intersection of SR-25 and Five Point Road. Phase 1 of the $40 million project includes a 135,000 square feet, 60 nursing units and 56 assisted living suites.

Additional features include a chapel, fountains and a storm retention pond, two rooftop terrace gardens, a lounge and community room.

The ceremony begins at 2 p.m.

The project, six years in the planning, will be the largest development by the Franciscan Living Communities in northwest Ohio. Rudolph/Libbe Inc., of Walbridge is construction manager for Phase One of the project, which will be complete in July 2013. They say Phase 1 will create 125 permanent, full-time jobs.

Later phases will include townhouses, cluster homes, apartments and a community center.
