Rossford Police to enforce 'Click It or Ticket' during casino's opening week
Rossford Police said this year, the Click It or Ticket campaign is more important than ever to their area because of the new Hollywood Casino.
ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) - Police all over the region are enforcing seatbelt laws with the "Click It or Ticket" campaign. Rossford Police said this year, the program is more important than ever to their area because of the new Hollywood Casino.
The casino opening is just around the corner. Rossford Police said that means more traffic going in and out of the gates right into the city of Rossford.
That is why they say the Click It or Ticket campaign could not come at a better time.
All through next week police will be paying extra attention to drivers who are not wearing their seatbelts and who do not have children properly fastened into safety seats.
With the casino opening Tuesday, Rossford Police expect to see more cars on the road, which means more stop-and-go traffic with a higher chance of accidents. Police warn that following traffic regulations, especially during this time, can mean the difference between life and death.
"They're definitely going to keep you a lot safer inside your vehicle surrounded by steel, than it would if you fly through the windshield, or worse. So it's definitely important to keep the seatbelt on," said Rossford Police Chief Glenn Goss.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office is sending deputies to Rossford to help with traffic enforcement over the next week.
