TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - It's the talk of the town right now, with the grand opening of Hollywood Casino Toledo taking place on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The casino's 125,000 square feet of gaming floor space with 60 table games, a 20-table poker room and 2,002 slot machines, many are making plans to visit.
"I'm going to the casino for my birthday, June 7. I play slots and I look forward to it," says Ruthie Latimer.
"Oh yes I'll be there playing the slots," says Ben Cheatham.
Florence Anderson says while she won't be going she's trying to focus on the positive aspects of the casino opening:
"I voted against casino gambling and I thought about the positive side. It's providing jobs and Toledo's hurting for jobs. The people that are going there that don't have enough sense not to gamble, I have a concern about them."
Denise Williams says there's a wow factor, even though she hasn't been inside yet:
"It's impressive. I can't believe how big it is. I think it's going to bring a lot of business to Toledo."
Councilman Mike Craig says when factoring in the sale of the Marina District, work beginning on the Great Lakes Maritime Museum project and upgrades at the Port of Toledo, there's plenty happening in east Toledo to create jobs and new destinations:
"Along the riverfront especially on the East side of the river there's been a lot of development and I expect it to continue".
The casino estimates it will have an annual attendance of around 2.8 million people.
