Although more than 4,000 applications came in for dealer positions, only 370 people got the job.
TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - They have had a long journey. On Tuesday, the men and women training to be dealers for months made their debut.
Many of these dealers had never even set foot inside a casino before they decided to become dealers. Some of the dealers have already been promoted to supervisors.
Their journey started back in September when the Hollywood Casino Toledo started taking applications for dealer school. Those accepted into dealer school went to class at Owens Community College.
More than 4,000 applications came in for dealer positions, but only 370 people got the job.
The director of table games said there was anxiety Tuesday, but he thinks they will do great in the future.
"It's been a long and challenging, hard and exciting, you name the adjective. But it's very well worth it. Beautiful property, just top of the line technology for everybody. We're just looking forward to having all the folks in Toledo come and visit us," said Neal Perry, director of table games.
The dealers' practice did not end when they were done with dealer school. Perry said they were practicing at home all the way up until opening day.
