TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Crews were called to two separate fires early Wednesday that are both being looked into by arson investigators.
A resident in the 2300 block of Valentine, near the intersection of Craig, said he woke up around 3:30 a.m. to his dog barking and growling. When he looked outside, he saw a man running from the home that was on fire.
"If I'd have woke up when she first starting barking, I probably would have caught the perpetrator or whoever caught the fire. It's funny how a pain when your dog wakes you up in the middle of the night barking, now I know to pay attention to it," said neighbor Juan Rodriguez.
Neighbors said there is a couple who lives in the east Toledo home, but they were not home at the time of the fire. Arson investigators are talking to neighbors.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Still, no suspects have been named.
The first fire started in north Toledo around 2 a.m. A home at Blair Court off Erie Street in the North End that was set to be demolished caught fire.
It was just a garage, but still a possible case of arson. Crews are calling it suspicious, and an investigator is working on the case.
