The McCord Road underpass project has been moved to 2023.SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - On Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Transportation's Transportation Review Advisory Council accepted the major new construction program, which moves up the McCord Road underpass project.
TRAC met in January and would have moved the project's construction start date from 2015 to 2029. It has now been moved to 2023. Although that is earlier than previous estimated starts, it is still behind the original 2014 date.
The project receives a total of $41.6 million in funding: $12.9 million from TRAC, $9.7 million from ODOT, and $19.1 million locally. The project has been pushed back because $13 million of state money will be needed for the project.
Lucas County engineers have been trying to build an underpass on McCord, near Springfield High School, since the 1990s.
The McCord Road project, among others, are still being reviewed and could be moved again.
