Sweden publicity disaster is comedic gold for U.S.

(RNN) – Sweden is getting a different type of publicity than it had hoped for after the country's tourist board handed over control of the national Twitter account @Sweden to a different citizen each week.
A woman named Sonja, described on the Curators of Sweden website as a "low-educated" 27-year-old single mother of two who speaks English as a second language, has caused a public relations disaster for the entire country.
Reading the biography in its entirety would lead a reasonable person to believe that the site had been hacked and it's all a joke – Sweden wishes.
Sonja's scandalous tweets have included anything from "dolphin rapists" to "strawberries…dripping with milk and urine" – with an image attached to the tweet for that last one.
As if it couldn't weirder or more uncomfortable, she began to question how anyone can distinguish Jewish people from all other humans. The tweets were never bluntly racist; she appeared to be mocking Nazis.
"In Nazi German they even had to sew stars on their sleeved. If they didn't, they could never now who was a jew and who was not a jew," said one tweet.
In a twist to an already twisted situation, Stephen Colbert, host of the Colbert Report, seeks to gain control of the Twitter handle next.
His qualifications include his 3.5 million followers on Twitter versus @Sweden's 35,000. The country has more than 9 million people according to a 2011 census.
