COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio is using a federal grant to provide free bus rides to families of youth detained in state juvenile detention centers on Father's Day weekend.
The goal is to help family members who don't have the means to travel themselves with the chance to see their child as part of the child's rehabilitation process.
Buses were scheduled to leave Saturday from Dayton and Cincinnati for families visiting Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility.
Buses were also leaving from Akron and Cleveland for families visiting Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility.
The Department of Youth Services plans monthly bus trips through the end of the year.
