WALBRIDGE, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Walbridge Village council members say Mayor Dan Wilczynski is not attending council meetings, and some are calling for his resignation.
The mayor works for BP and admits to traveling outside of the country often for his job. However, he defends his ability to represent the village well.
"Council meetings are only 2 percent of the job," said Wilczynski. "Most of the work happens outside of council meetings. It's in meetings with businesses, residents and staff. The council meetings are just a small piece of the job."
Some members of council disagree.
"It's frustrating that we don't have a representative for the village," said Sue Hart-Douglas.
"I think that they (residents) deserve a mayor who's here and paying attention," said Jan Sawaya.
The mayor also said he made the public aware of his work schedule when running for office and stressed he is getting the job done.
