Followers of the local blues music scene probably know Darryl Stipes. Over the years, he's been a respected and prolific drummer in bands.
Thursday night, Mr. Stipe was found murdered at his Sylvania Township home. There have been no arrests in the case.
"He was the best friend anybody could have. He'd do anything for you; greatest person, my best friend," said Josh Boyd, who played with Stipes in Josh Boyd's VIP Band.
You've probably seen Mr. Stipes perform in local clubs and at festivals.
The band has played at local clubs and festivals, as well as Memphis and Las Vegas. Their most recent gig was Bike Week in Sandusky.
"He just stays in the pocket. Knows how to do all the arrangements. He's just awesome all the way around," said Boyd.
Boyd say she is puzzled by the murder and ca not believe Mr. Stipes is gone.
"Everybody liked him. That's why I can't understand. Everybody loved Darryl Stipes. Everybody will. He's awesome. Great dude," said Mr. Boyd, who plans to organize a benefit concert in Darryl's memory.
"I'm going to miss him. I love him. He's my boy," said Boyd.
