MONROE, MI (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - The nuclear reactor at the Fermi 2 power plant in Monroe is shut down.
Crews idled the plant Monday afternoon when its steam condenser lost the vacuum that pulls steam across a series of cooling tubes.
Plant operators say Fermi 2 is "in a safe, stable condition."
It's not known when the plant will be up and running again.
