BOWLING GREEN, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Two people escaped a house fire in the 600 block of County Road 45, which is near the border of Wood and Sandusky counties. The home was destroyed.
The homeowners woke up around 6:45 Wednesday morning to the smell of smoke and noticed the front porch was on fire. The fire quickly spread to the rest of the house, doing about $150,000 in damage.
According to the homeowners, they were using a fireplace on the front porch last night, which may have sparked the fire.
Crews are still at the scene, and investigators have begun searching for a cause.
A portion of US-23 was closed Wednesday morning but has since opened again.
