Jeff Sailor will be the Toledo Zoo's new executive director Aug. 1.TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Toledo Zoo has found their replacement for longtime CEO and Executive Director Dr. Ann Baker.
Jeff Sailor is a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society. He currently resides in New York City where he runs three conservation parks for the WCS. Since he has worked with animals his entire life and conservation is his top priority, running a zoo has always been a lifelong dream.
Sailor said living in a big city like New York helps him appreciate an area like northwest Ohio for its multiple ecosystems and its variety of wildlife. A primary goal for Sailor will be to promote conservation locally to preserve the beauty of northwest Ohio.
"What I'm interested in doing, is looking at opportunities for us to do conservation work locally and regionally. And there's a lot of opportunities right here in Ohio, looking at local landscape levels, and habitat level conservation projects, reptiles, amphibians, birds, you name it," said Sailor.
Sailor will begin his tenure as executive director Aug. 1.
