PLAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - The coroner ruled the death of 3-month-old Carter Steinmiller a homicide.

The cause has been determined as abusive head trauma.

The baby's mother , Rebecca Steinmiller, was indicted in May on one count of child endangerment for failing to report the baby's broken arm. She pleaded not guilty. The Wood County prosecutor said at that time that more charges could come depending on autopsy results.

Carter Steinmiller died on May 5. He was rushed to Wood County Hospital after someone called 911 at the family's home in Plain Township, which is just north of Bowling Green. Emergencies crews could not revive the child, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The baby's father, Brian Steinmiller, was also investigated by police, but no charges have been filed.
