Oregon Police are searching for the men responsible for stealing from a woman while shopping at Walmart in Oregon.OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) - Oregon Police want people to keep a close eye on their purses and wallets while shopping. Police said three men who posed as good samaritans were anything but.
Police said three men were posing as friendly shoppers at the Walmart on Navarre Avenue, but instead they stole credit cards and one woman's wallet.
The victim said one of the men approached her and started taking to her about the greeting cards she was holding. Little did she know a second man was watching and waiting to make his move.
"I noticed my purse was so floppy and then I realized my wallet was gone," said the victim. "And then it hit me clear as day, I was the victim of a two-man tag team."
Police said she was targeted by the men who picked her out in the parking lot and followed her inside.
"These guys had been in the store for several hours following women around the store helping them in the aisles talking to them, and they watched them come in and out of the store several times," said Det. Janet Zale with the Oregon Police.
The suspects made off with $17 and a few credit cards, but the victim said it is hard to put a price on what they stole.
"I have pictures of my children that are just unique, just one-time-only pictures, and they will never be replaced," said the victim.
Thanks to several tips, police have identified the suspects and have made one arrest so far. Derrick Saleh has been arrested.
Detectives are working to prevent a repeat occurrence. Anyone with more information is asked to call Oregon Police Detectives at 419-698-7060.
