HOLLAND, OH (Toledo News Now) - Christopher Zimmerman of Holland died during Thursday's powerful storm.

On Sunday, friends put together a car wash to raise money for his family.

By mid-afternoon, more than thirty vehicles had stopped by Rudy's Hot Dog on Airport Highway and Holloway Road to get their vehicle scrubbed down.

"He always helped everybody. Everybody loved him," said Christopher's widow Kendra Zimmerman.

Many stopping by didn't even know Mr. Zimmerman.

"I'd hope that somebody would do the same thing for me if something happened in my family," said Pat Files.

Mr. Zimmerman was in his driveway rolling up the windows on his car when a tree came crashing down on the vehicle.

He was killed instantly and is survived by two children and his wife Kendra.

"Right now we're struggling but I'm doing alright. The best I can now. It's hard. No one expected this to happen," said Zimmerman's wife Kendra.

Money raised will go to help buy clothing for the Zimmerman children.

Meanwhile, Mr. Zimmerman's funeral is on Thursday.
