TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Family, friends and community members gathered at Oakdale Elementary in east Toledo Wednesday night to remember Samantha June.

June, 14, died Wednesday just hours after the car she was riding in struck a tree in Lake Township.

Police believe 23 year-old Brittanee Koontz of Perrysburg crashed her SUV into a tree on Tracy Road around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.  There were three other juvenile passengers in the vehicle besides June, including a toddler.

Koontz is listed in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries and according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, may not have been wearing her seatbelt.

Koontz's 1-year-old son, Jacob, is listed in fair condition.

Paige Liendhurst, 15, of Walbridge, is also listed in critical condition and was thrown from the vehicle, as a result of not wearing a seatbelt.

Sierra Brewer, 15, of Walbridge, was sitting in the passenger's seat and wearing her seatbelt. Brewer is said to only have minor injuries.

Nick Baden, who lives in a home near where the accident happened says he was impressed with the speed of police response.

"We were in the living room watching TV, we heard the crash, we came out and we knew pretty much right away what it was, and we called 911 right away and they responded very quickly," said Baden.

Police believe June was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident.
