MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a morning accident and road closure on Interstate 475/U.S. Route 23 is now the result of a police chase and wreck.

OSHP says a trooper spotted a 2003 BMW X5 SUV speeding southbound on I-75 at milepost 201. A chase began and the BMW headed northbound on I-475/US-23. At U.S. Route 24, the BMW exited I-475/US-23 and got back on the expressway heading south.

OSHP set up stop sticks near state Route 25 when the BMW crashed into the back of one car and spun it into another. Both drivers had non-life-threatening injuries.

The BMW being chased then drove across a median to the edge of the northbound lanes and crashed into a guardrail.

Police arrested Saed Ibrahim, 28, of Hilton Head, SC, and charged him with three counts of felonious assault and one count of aggravated vehicular assault, along with a single charge of drug possession.

Bond was set at $71,000.
