The future is uncertain for the Churchill's supermarket in West Toledo. It's been a familiar fixture at the corner of Central and Cheltenham since 1947, but the trust which owns the property has put it up for sale.
It is not clear what will happen to the store if the property is sold to another owner. People in the Old Orchard neighborhood say that store is a huge part of that neighborhood and it would impact the area should the store close or relocate.
"I see the same people every time I go. They know me and I know them. It's a comfortable place for us. I really don't want it to be a dollar store or something like that because that totally ruins the neighborhood dynamic", says Leah Streeter.
Toledo City Councilman Tom Waniewski says while he informed people in his district about the situation in a newsletter, all he can do is wait for private enterprise to decide whether or not the store stays or not.
