The suspect in a weekend murder in Perrysburg Township is now in police custody.
Jose Moya Jr. was taken into custody after turning himself in Tuesday.
Moya received treatment for a gunshot wound to his hand at a local hospital before being taken into custody.
"He will be arraigned in Perrysburg Municipal Court tomorrow morning and then the judge will determine whether there's probable cause, and then he'll be bound over to a Wood County Grand Jury," said Detective Sergeant James Gross of the Perrysburg Township Police Department. "He is currently charged with murder."
Perrysburg Township police named Moya a suspect just hours after the homicide of Leandra Frankum, 21, who was shot and killed on Broad St. in Perrysburg Township around 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
Moya is believed to have been Frankum's on and off again boyfriend. Police are still seeking Moya's brother, Raul Moya, who they say helped him get away. Jose Moya's attorney has told Toledo News Now he expects Raul will turn himself in shortly.
Frankum's family says they are busy trying to support each other, stay strong for Frankum's 6-month-old daughter, and plan a funeral service to honor her.
Frankum's family says people need to speak up to get Raul Moya behind bars.
"It's very important that somebody opens up and says something. You know, they took my daughter from me, they stole her life from me, and I want justice to be served. I want them off the streets. They're very dangerous people," said Trina Oviedo-Frankum, Frankum's mother.
