Ten-year-old Olivia Ruffner has an uncle who was diagnosed with brain cancer about a year ago. After seeing him undergo 4 surgeries in the last year, Olivia decided she wanted to do something to help. So, she began collecting donations for cancer research at the Perrysburg Flea Market.
"Olivia's a very passionate young girl, she very caring and very giving, and with my brother in the situations he's at, in about 14 months he's had four brain surgeries, he had the last one this past Monday and he's in rough shape right now, but he's putting on a great fight, and she just wanted to do something," said Rick Ruffner, Olivia's father.
The Ruffners own the O-Deer Diner in Perrysubrg, and Olivia even began collecting the change from the gum ball machine for her fund. She donates the money to cancer research at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
"I feel amazing, just everybody's support and they helped me through it, my mom, my dad my sisters they helped," said Olivia.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the O-Deer Diner, 416 Louisiana Ave. in Perrysburg or mail a check to the Ruffner home at 20468 Anderson Rd. in Bowling Green.
