Gas leak repaired in east Toledo

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Miami Street between Oregon Road and Oak Street in east Toledo reopened after a gas leak closed it Tuesday for about two hours. The gas leak has since been repaired.

A high-pressure line was struck around 10 a.m. at Miami and Oakdale by First Energy/Toledo Edison while digging for a new utility pole. That six-inch gas main supplied Hollywood Casino.

Columbia Gas and Toledo Fire were on scene.

There are no homes in the area, so no evacuations were made. A nearby Sunoco gas station was shut down in the meantime.

Columbia Gas said there were no outages associated with the break and that any gas that did escape should have dissipated in the air.

Hollywood Casino was the only gas customer impacted by the leak. The casino remained open, but for about five hours, not all menu items were available as food operations were affected.
