OTTAWA HILLS, OH (Toledo News Now) - Police say a 24 year-old Ottawa Hills woman just wanted her car repaired, but ended up getting a lot more than she bargained for. Police say shortly after having her car serviced at a Monro Muffler Brake & Service shop in Toledo, she began receiving inappropriate and unwanted text messages.
Police say she received 44 messages over a four day period, including one picture message of a man's genitals. At first, the woman says she thought it was a misunderstanding. When she asked the person to stop and they did not, she contacted police.
Ottawa Hills Police traced the messages back to 32 year-old Stanley Wilburn, who manages the shop.
"Mr. Wilburn admitted to sending the text messages and sending the picture. He stated he obtained her phone number from the service department records at the shop," said Ottawa Hill Interim Police Chief John Wenzlick.
Wilburn plead not guilty to charges of telecommunications harassment Monday, and has been fired from his position at the auto shop.
"We take our customers' data very seriously. We work very hard to establish trust with our customers, and he violated numerous policies, for which his employment has now ended," said a spokesperson for the Monro Muffler Brake & Service.
