TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo Public Schools held a job fair Wednesday to fill around 100 open positions.
This is the first time TPS has held this sort of job fair. The district has an unusually high number of openings due to retirements and so far, has not had as many applicants as it would like.
TPS is looking to fill about 100 positions, including substitute teachers, substitute bus drivers, food service workers, clerical staff members and substitute cleaners. Although many of these are part-time positions, some involve a lot of hours and can lead to full time positions in the future.
Organizers of the job fair say 824 people showed up looking for a job.
TPS officials said they plan on moving quickly with the applications to set up interviews. They hope to hire before the start of the upcoming school year.
Those who were unable to attend the job fair can fill out an application online.
