TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Toledo farmer's market appeared in central Toledo Wednesday to help celebrate National Farmers Market Week.
The event was part of an effort to keep people healthy by allowing them easy access to locally grown food.
At least fifteen local farmers were represented, setting up stands in the parking lot near the Lucas County Job and Family Services building.
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was present to show her support. Congresswoman Kaptur explained that buying foods from local farmers helps keeps money in the area, potentially helping the local economy.
" Food is the most important ingredient. Producing it, selling it locally and we have the ability to do it in Northwest Ohio where we have such great soil and such dedicated farmers, and we have consumers looking for good products," said Congresswoman Kaptur.
There is another market scheduled for September 12.
