SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Sylvania area could become a traffic mess for the next few days. The city is hosting several big events over the weekend and has three major ramp closures over the next few days.
Sylvania is the place to be this weekend for the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, a circus and a complete triathlon. Anyone traveling to one of the events will want to keep construction in mind. The Ohio Department of Transportation has several ramp projects slated.
"We're a little overstocked with people and things to do," said Pat Nowak with the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce.
With lots of people and ramp closures come lots of traffic.
"ODOT always picks summer to do all their projects, and so it's going to be a bit slow in Sylvania this weekend. So take a couple minutes if you have to be some place early," said Nowak.
Here are the closures:
ODOT said it is going to be resurfacing and reconstructing some pavement joints. Crews are doing the work outside of peak hours to reduce headaches.
Nowak said the influx of people is a mixture of a blessing and a curse.
"It brings people to Sylvania to enjoy amenities of a small town. They spend money. They visit our shops. They visit our restaurants. Sure, it's a little bit of a curse with traffic, but you know what? We'll have it any day," said Nowak.
