Residents of the Moody Manor apartment complex say they are happy to hear arrests have been made after a shooting there Thursday, but hope police have the right people.
Late Thursday night, 1-year-old Keondra Hooks was killed and her 2-year-old sister Leondra seriously injured when someone fired shots through the glass door of their Moody Manor apartment.
"I would come out here every day and look over there and see her sitting outside, her granny pushing her up and down the streets and stuff like that. It's real sad," said Moody Manor resident Autumn Russell.
Three young men were arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the case on Tuesday. Russell says she thinks pressure from police and the mayor at a vigil earlier in the day helped.
"People really started speaking up because they know that this is not right or whatever. So I just hope that they really do got the right person that did this," said Russell.
Another woman who lives at the complex, who did not wish to be named, said the arrests do not make her feel any safer.
"I'm still scared. Ain't nothing going to change, it's still scary," said the woman.
