TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Lucas County coroner has determined the man who was found in the Maumee River Wednesday drowned.

Lucas County Deputy Coroner Dr. Diane Barnett said Robert Brennan, 59, of Findlay, drowned. Barnett also said there were no signs of trauma or indication that another person was involved.

According to the autopsy's results, Brennan had a final meal shortly before he died and consumed enough alcohol that his body smelled of it.

Barnett said the time of his death was shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday because he made contact with his wife around that time and his body was found later at 7:50 p.m.

Barnett said she is not going to issue a ruling in the death until toxicology and additional investigation are completed.

Brennan's car was found locked near the riverfront and his wallet, along with other personal belongings, were left in the car.

Investigation by the coroner's office found that Brennan was recently treated for depression, but family members said he was doing alright. Barnett said no suicide note was found.
