PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) – Students at Owens Community College went back to campus Monday to start their fall semester.
Classes are now under way at Owens and there are a lot of new changes coming to the college this year.
One of those big changes is President Dr. Mike Bower. Bower is the sixth president in the 47-year history of the school, coming from North Dakota.
Every year Owens is looking for ways to improve and give students more options. A modification this year is a new associate degree in vascular sonography.
Dr. Renay Scott said it is just one way that Owens is looking to broaden its scope of learning.
"This region has several heart centers and vascular centers that try to help the community in health and wellness for the heart. By having a vascular sonography program, we can prepare technicians who use vascular equipment and sound waves to study the health of the heart," explained Scott.
