Hi, I'm Melissa! I'm anchor of WTOL 11 Your Morning, Your Day and News at Noon.
I truly believe we have the best news team and the best news product in this market. You're busy. You have only so much time to turn on the TV. When you do, you expect to hear what you need to know to start your day off on the right foot.
We have Toledo's biggest news team on Your Morning, and each of us is concentrating on one specific area of information for you.
News isn't just something I read. It's a passion. I knew when I was a little girl, reading books at my grandma's house in front of the mirror, that I wanted to be in broadcasting. That continued in college, when I would make my sorority sisters read the newspaper in their best "anchorwoman" voice! (He, he).
Speaking of college, I studied broadcast journalism at Kent State University. I produced, reported and anchored for TV2, our college station. I also anchored for a PBS program, which aired throughout northeast Ohio.
I anchored and reported in Terre Haute, Indiana and at 13abc in Toledo, and hosted a public-affairs program at a local PBS station before joining this amazing team of journalists.
I love giving my time to great community organizations. I've voluteered with The American Heart Association, Shared Lives Studio and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio.
When I arrived here in Toledo six years ago, I thought I'd be moving on to the next market. But Toledo is my home, now.
Fortunately, I met my husband, Ryan, who is from Berkey and the rest is history! We're raising two beautiful kids and an Australian Labradoodle.
Working full-time and being a parent is a challenge, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm a big believer in the saying, "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." We can have it all!
