I joined Toledo's biggest morning news team in August of 2012 as a developing story and investigative reporter for WTOL's Your Morning and a co-anchor on FOX Toledo's Daybreak.
I grew up in the small town of Bear, Delaware, and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Leadership. I later went on to get my MBA from Wilmington University. My first job was at the Fox News Channel in New York City as a production assistant. At Fox, I learned how to write and produce and even had the opportunity to work in the entertainment department, covering red carpet events, movie screening, and press junkets. I interviewed celebrities like Tom Cruise, Eva Mendes, and Josh Groban. But, my favorite interview was definitely George Clooney--I'm sure you can guess why!
After Fox, I became an evening anchor and host of a Sunday morning show in Salisbury, MD. In my time there, I covered current stories across Delmarva including Hurricane Irene and the legal status of Civil Unions in the state of Delaware. In 2011 I received an Associated Press Award for my coverage of a tornado that hit Lewes, Delaware. I also hosted a one hour behind the scenes special on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which won a Telly Award.
In my free time I love being active! I've run in many races over the past few years including a Half Marathon in NYC and a Triathlon--just don't ask me my times! I love being with family and friends and of course, watching reality television. It's an addiction!
Now that I've experienced fast paced city living and the relaxed beach scene, I'm ready to take on the Midwest. I've got to tell you I'm a little nervous for the winters up here, but I've got my snow boots ready!
I hope you'll choose WTOL and FOX to wake up to in the mornings! I promise to work my hardest to bring you stories that matter most and start the morning with lots of energy. Visit me on my Facebook page ‘Ashley James WTOL' or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
