TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Police confirm Charles Howe was shot in the stomach early Tuesday in south Toledo.
It happened just after midnight in the 100 block of Eldred near Western Avenue. The victim was transported to a hospital and immediately taken into surgery. He is expected to survive.
Police are questioning 20-year-old Paul Heinlin and 20-year-old Christopher Webb in relation to the shooting. They have arrested both men on drug-related charges. They believe Webb pulled the trigger but are still investigating the order of events that led to the shooting. Neither man has yet been charged in the shooting.
Detectives believe the shooter and victim know each other. They also say the victim lives on Eldred Street.
One witness says she arrived in the area by car and saw the victim laying on the ground in a yard. She believed the shooter was nearby and ran away as fast as possible because she thought her own life may be in danger.
