BGSU football coach addressing university injury policies after lawsuit filed

Posted: Updated:

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - BGSU Head Coach David Clawson along with two trainers from the university and the equipment manager were all named as plaintiffs when Cody Silk and his lawyer filed suit in the Ohio Court of Claims Tuesday.

The former Falcon football player and his lawyers claim that multiple concussions and head trauma he suffered while playing for Coach Clawson lead to permanent neurological damage

They also claim that the staff failed to comply with NCAA concussion and head trauma protocols.

Silk's lawyers said he was stripped of his scholarship because he was no longer able to play.

Coach Clawson said he is not able to comment on this particular case but he said his staff treats everyone with care.

"We certainly in our training room have protocol that must be followed after injury of any sort. So, that's certainly handled in our training room, and we meet on those things daily," said Clawson.

Silk and his lawyers are seeking economic compensation. They want his medical care to be provided for the rest of his life and for the university to honor the terms of his scholarship.
