GREEN SPRINGS, OH (Toledo News Now) - Some residents in Green Springs are fuming after a wrecking company starting dumping debris behind their homes since mid August.
For the last 33 years Sam Ortiz looked out his back window at a large, well kept pond. Now, he sees trucks dumping construction debris into the field several hours a day.
"The view is destroyed. There's nothing I can do about that. It's very frustrating," said Ortiz.
Residents say the worst part about all of this is how close it is happening to their homes.
"The noise, it is supposed to be a residential area. I guess the city doesn't have a noise ordinance and just, to have to look at it," said Ortiz
Abdoo Wrecking owns the lot and owner Michael Abdoo said they are using the debris to fill in the pond. The company plans to eventually make a parking lot for the wrecking company. Abdoo insists the work is allowed.
According to Green Spring's most recent map, it is part of a manufacturing district zoned for "high nuisance manufacturing".
Green Spring's mayor says the village is still looking into the issue and is unsure if the dumping is legal.
