ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) - Rossford Schools used a new alert system Wednesday to notify parents of delays. Power Announcement was adopted by the district this summer. Parents can receive text messages, phone calls and emails through the system.
It is similar to the old system Honeywell, except for the fact that it is run through one software system. The student software system runs it and it cost around $4,000 less than Honeywell. The cost averages roughly $1.25 per student.
Parents log their information through the parent portal section of the Rossford School District website and they will receive reports of delays, closings and other announcements.
"Basically we can send out a message about anything, we can send out district newsletters via email through that system, we can send text messages, so anything that we want to notify parents about we can send through there," said Sandy Smith, Rossford Director of Technology.
Since it was implemented in July, feedback for Power Announcement has been largely positive from parents.
