Police: Evidence links 3 Lenawee Co. pharmacy break-ins

Posted: Updated:

LENAWEE COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) – Police need the public's help catching whoever is responsible for three early morning break-ins at various Lenawee County pharmacies this summer.

The first break-in occurred July 21 at 3:43 a.m. Deputies responded to a burglar alarm at the Addison Pharmacy located at 100 Main St. in Addison, MI. When Deputies arrived, they found the front entry door glass broken. A check of the interior of the pharmacy revealed someone had tried to break into the interior door leading into the pharmacy area. The suspect(s) could not make entry through the door so the suspect(s) broke out the glass at the service counter area in order to gain entry into the pharmacy area. Inventory reveals that nothing was taken.

The second break-in occurred July 22 at 4:20 a.m. Officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Schmidt and Son Pharmacy located at 177 West Brooke Lane in Blissfield, MI. Minutes later when officers arrived, they found a glass window to the office area broken. Viewing of the surveillance video shows two people enter the pharmacy office window and go into the pharmacy area behind the counter, taking several bottles of medication. The two suspects then left the building, after being inside only 34 seconds.

The third break-in occurred Aug. 2 at 6:13 a.m. Officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Schmidt and Son and upon arrival, found another window broken. Surveillance video shows two people enter the pharmacy office window and go into the pharmacy area behind the counter, taking several bottles of medication. The two suspects fled, after only being in the building 1 minute and 33 seconds.

Investigators believe these break-ins are related due to evidence found at the scene. At this time, several different types of medication were taken during the break-ins.

In both of the Blissfield break-in videos, two suspects are seen inside the pharmacy, and one is wearing a coat, jeans and a stocking-type mask covering the face. The second suspect is Caucasian, wearing a coat, jeans and a baseball-type hat with a bandana covering the face.
