TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo's Fire Station 3 in North Toledo has been shut down after cracks were discovered in the garage floor.

All firefighting equipment and personnel has been moved across the river to Station 13 in east Toledo.  Although firefighters will now be farther from north and central Toledo, officials say response times should be about the same.

"Fortunately, it's just over a mile away, and there is quick access provided by the Veteran's memorial skyway as well as the Craig's Street Bridge. And both of those bridges allow them to get back into the heart of their district rather quickly. In addition to station 7 which is an adjacent district. [There is] Station 5, which is an adjacent district. And station 24, which is an adjacent district. They can all kind of help cover the outer fringes of station 3's district," said Toledo Fire Lieutenant Matthew Hertzfeld.

If is unclear when firefighters might be able to return to the building, but officials say crews are working to inspect the damage.
