TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Residents in the west Toledo neighborhood of Old Orchard will soon be able to participate in a test program and receive text alerts or emails of 911 calls within their neighborhood.
Councilman Tom Waniewski, who represents District 5, will hold a news conference on Thursday, Sept. 20 to reveal details of the program.
In a news release, Waniewski stated the program will be free to the city. He says it's like an updated version of Block Watch meetings.
The text alert program is called Eye Citizen, and it's a service provided by Vanstar. Residents will opt in to participate.
