TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A sign outside a strip club in north Toledo raised concerns Wednesday. It told drivers to honk if they were - another word for excited or aroused.

A parent called WTOL complaining, saying she had to explain to her child the sign with bright red letters near the roadside.

Drivers say the message must have gone up overnight and were pretty surprised to see it.

"I couldn't believe it. I've never seen something like that," said Dianne Marsh, concerned about the sign.

Timothy Wood agreed.

"I was shocked like, ‘Wow! Who would put that up there?' That's just completely inappropriate," he said.

The marquee is outside of Platinum Kisses Showgirls on Alexis and Detroit. The business opened earlier this year. Many people believe the sign crosses the line.

"I've got stepkids, and I've got little brothers and sisters. Kids go to school up and down the street and catch the bus, and what's the first thing you look at? You look at a billboard. That's inappropriate. Everyone knows what it is. It's a strip club,. So why do you need to take it any further than that?" stated Wood.

Marsh was shopping at a kids store near the club and wanted the message to come down.

"They want to keep it behind closed doors, so be it, but not out in public where little kids can see it. Take it down. Make them take it down. I think it's terrible," said Marsh.

The strip club's manager said he had no idea the message was up. He said it is controlled by a computer inside and someone must have done it overnight as a joke. The manager said he was sorry people were offended and took down the message Wednesday afternoon.

Now a more generic "We are open. Come on in." greets passers-by.
