NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) - American Municipal unveiled a new solar energy project Friday in Henry County.
The solar energy panels will save money. People and businesses in Napoleon can expect to see some lower bills. City leaders say the impact is much bigger than that.
"It means a lot of opportunity," said mayor of Napoleon Ron Behm.
Now that the solar panel producer moved their main facility here, it is bringing at least 100 new jobs, energy savings and a potential economic boost.
"There's other solar fields but this is the first one that acts as an economic development tool," said Napoleon city manager Jon Bisher.
City leaders hope it encourages new businesses to open up shop nearby because they will get a good deal on energy costs.
A final cost has not been determined but officials say you could save up to $20 a month on your energy bills.
