TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A 3-day conference is underway aimed at attracting new foreign investors to the Toledo area.
A majority of the 150 people attending the 5 Lakes Global Economic Forum are from China, invited by the University of Toledo, the Regional Growth partnership and 5 Lakes Global, the company hosting the event at the Park Inn.
The event aims to make new connections and build relationships that lead to investment opportunities. Presentations during the forum will focus on technology and new manufacturing, advanced education and medicine.
UT Vice President of External Affairs Larry Burns said it is a chance to attract new research dollars and build off current research being conducted at UTMC.
"Developing relationships that allow us to collaborate and hopefully on the business side we might interest some companies to locate in our technology park," said Burns.
The forum will include a series of bus tours to a variety of locations in the area.
