MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - Maumee area residents will soon have a new option for primary medical care. The University of Toledo Medical Center will open a new facility at the Fallen Timbers mall.
The 4,400 square foot facility will be located between the Men's Warehouse and Dillard's. It will be home to two family medicine doctors, and treat patients from infancy to senior citizens. There will also be lab services offered at the facility.
"We've had primary care on campus here for years, and now we're looking to take our mission of improving the human condition out to the community," said Todd Clark, Manager of Off Campus Care at UTMC. "We can't always expect people to come to us. We have to get out to them."
Maumee officials are happy to see another portion of the mall filled, and to see area residents given another opportunity to receive healthcare.
"It takes up new space over there at the mall that has not been leased since its opening in 2007," John Jezak, Maumee City Administrator. "It not only fills a vacancy, but it fills a need for that segment of the community."
Officials say the clinic should be completed and open to the public by the end of the year.
