Craigslist ad leads police to stolen tools

Posted: Updated:

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - An ad on the website Craigslist.com led police to the person or persons they say could be responsible for a string of tool thefts in the area.

Police investigating break-ins at T. Gray Automotive, SeaGate Transportation and Ampoint Maintenance say one of the victims contacted them saying an ad had been placed on the site offering to sell the stolen tools.  Police followed up, and executed a search warrant in the case on Thursday.  They recovered a large container of tools believed to be stolen at a location in Toledo.

""I can link two break ins in Perrysburg Township, possibly two break ins in Fulton County back to the same location as selling the tools on Craigslist," said Detective James Gross of the Perrysburg Township Police Department.

Police are asking anyone who purchased Snap On, Mac or Matco tools on Cragslist recently to contact Perrysburg Township Police at 419-874-3551.
