Federal Appeals court reinstating in-person early voting on final 3 days before election

Posted: Updated:

(Toledo News Now) - The Federal Appeals court has reinstated in-person early voting in the state on the final three days before Election Day.

This means that local boards of elections can decide for themselves whether to allow early voting up until the Monday night before Election Day.

State law in Ohio says early voting must end on the Friday evening before a Tuesday election.  The law exempts military personnel and Ohio voters living overseas.

Ohio's secretary of state Jon Husted issued a statement saying quote:

"My office is reviewing today's decision by the court as we determine the best course of action moving forward. No action will be taken today, or this weekend."

Republican John Stainbrook from the board of elections in Lucas County said they will discuss this ruling at their regular meeting next Tuesday and make a decision from there.
