Performing artists Will.i.am stopped at both Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo Monday. The Black Eyed Peas member is on a two day bus tour with student organizers. The tour is intended to encourage college students to register to vote before Tuesday's deadline.
Will.i.am said one of the reasons he supports the president is his focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as STEM.
"The reason why I support Barack Obama is because every time I see him speak he mentions STEM and how important STEM is to the future of America," said Will.i.am. "It's important to elect Barack Obama for another four years so we can keep moving on the path to America's recovery. And get on the right path and part of that path is stem - science, technology, engineering, mathematics. Every single kid in every single intercity, suburb [school] needs that skill-set to compete in the future."
"I'm really excited. I love Will.i.am as an artist. He's definitely someone that I admire, he's very creative. I also love the fact that he's saying who he supports in this election and that he wants to get the word out there and getting people to vote because voting is a very important thing especially for our generation. We'll be the next generation running this country so that's definitely very important," said Kiera Moore, a student at the BG event.
