TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Paying members who showed up to the Lifestyles for ladies gym on Monroe Street in Toledo found doors locked shut. Customers want to know why the gym suddenly shut down.

Many members say there has been an ongoing problem between the owner of Lifestyles and the landlord.

One woman said she just paid her membership through September 2013. She and other members are demanding an explanation. Lifestyles members are out hundreds of dollars. Kiera has been a member for the past four years and cannot believe her money just went down the drain.

"I just went after work to go workout and there was a sign on the door that said they were closed," said Kiera, a Lifestyles member.

Cars lined up full of women confused when they saw the sign and a padlock on the door without any warning.

"I've tried calling the gym and nobody picks up the phone. Their website's gone. Their Facebook page is gone. Nobody's responding to anything," said Kiera.

Last year Lifestyles' Maumee location closed the same way. Members were told by management to use the Toledo facility. Now there is nowhere left to go.

"Is it going to close for good? Are we going to be able to get a refund on what we just paid? I just want information, anything," said Kiera.

A former manager of Lifestyles currently works at Red Fitness. He says they will honor all memberships indefinitely. Red Fitness is located on Airport Highway in the old Bally's building. It is 15 minutes away and is not an all-female gym.

One gym owner is in the process of taking over the lease for Lifestyles.

"I think this is a big need, a women's-only club. That's the reason why I want to keep it that way and provide good service for them," said Keith Zoller, owner of Fitness for Life.

If all goes according to plan, the gym will be called "Fitness for Ladies" and could be open as soon as Thursday. However, current Lifestyles members will have to purchase a new membership at a discounted rate.
