M&M Restaurant Supply to close permanently

Posted: Updated:

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A north Toledo company will be permanently ceasing operations and laying off nearly 130 employees in December.

M&M Restaurant Supply, located at 1015 New York Ave. in Toledo, will cease operations and terminate all of its employees as of Dec. 9, or within 14 days of that date. The union representative of the bargaining unit employees, as well as each unrepresented employee individually, have been notified, in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).

The closing is being triggered by the company's sale of its distribution business.

There are no bumping rights for employees as the facility will be closed.

Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and WARN, the company will pay each employee for each day of the 60-day notice period following the release of notification letters that the company is unable to provide work, and as required by the previously negotiated closing agreement, except if the employee terminates his or her job before that date.

Back in April, employees were notified of the impending closure but were unsure how long it would be until the doors closed for good.

M&M Restaurant Supply is the local distribution center for Keystone Foods, a national company. M&M distributes food to McDonald's throughout Toledo and Detroit.
